From the Farm:

ADVENTUROUS. AMBITIOUS. PASSIONATE. Meet Courtney.

MEET COURTNEY YOUNG

A native of Crawford, Texas, our Marketing Manager could ride a horse bareback by the time she was three and was accustomed to running barefoot across 16 acres of woods and pastures. Courtney is a free spirit we can’t wait for you to meet.

HER ADVENTUROUS SIDE

Courtney went to a small high school in a farming community in Texas and always wondered what lay beyond the open fields. “College was amazing. It changed my life. I met people who had different perspectives, engaged with very educated professors and discovered what I was good at. I also spent three months in Europe with only my backpack and took a bus to Monterrey, Mexico once.” After receiving her degree in English from Texas State, Courtney worked at colleges, helping students with research and then managing the operations of a trade school. She also wrote two novels during this time. Courtney loves adventure, and it was on one of these adventures (a Caribbean cruise) where she met her soon-to-be husband, bringing her to McKinney, Texas, and eventually to Nature Nate’s.

HER WORK

Courtney started at Nature Nate’s three and a half years ago, “[At first,] I was the marketing coordinator for just one person … We didn’t have offices … Just the plant was down there bottling honey.” She gestured down the gravel road towards our bottling plant on the farm. Today, Courtney oversees Digital Marketing. She maps the course of our digital and content marketing, putting together new campaigns and launching new initiatives. Courtney told us that her favourite thing about her job is that it feels like a family.

“People here treat me more like I’m a family member than an employee. Because of that I want to work really hard.” Courtney mentioned that much of this atmosphere is cultivated from the direction of Nathan Sheets. “We all love who Nathan is and try to be that way with each other: giving and understanding. He not only has an entrepreneurial spirit that helped start the business, but is passionate about cultivating people’s spirits, to build them up… And so we work hard to sell honey so that we can give back.”

HER PASSION

Courtney’s adventurous spirit still seeps into all that she does. She goes backpacking with her husband, loves outdoor adventures and travels as much as she can, toddler in tow. In December, she moved her family to the California coast, where she now works remotely. Her passion for excellence and serving people fuel her desire to help take Nature Nate’s to the next level no matter where she is in the world.
