Ingredients
For the Base:
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1/2 cup margarine or butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
For the Egg Layer:
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine
- 1 cup water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 16- ounces gorgonzola crumbles
For the Topping:
- 1/3 cup Nature Nate’s Raw & Unfiltered Honey
- fresh thyme leaves
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine all base ingredients until well combined. Roll into two balls, adding a bit more flour if needed. On a parchment lined baking sheet, pat each roll into a 12×3-inch rectangle. Next, bring the water and butter for the egg layer to a boil in a saucepan. Stir the flour, salt and onion powder into the hot liquid. Then, add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well, until smooth. Mix the blue cheese into the egg mixture until just combined. Spoon it evenly over the base layer and bake for 50-55 minutes, until very golden and puffy. Remove from oven and cool slightly. Drizzle honey evenly over both rectangles. Garnish with fresh thyme. Slice into “fingers” and serve.
